HUFFMAN RACING

HUFFMAN RACING SEASON TO DATE

One of the AHDRA's all-time most successful bracket racers is at it again in 2007. Heading into Bristol, Donnie Huffman was in the top five in points in several categories including ET, Super Eliminator, and SEP. Huffman used the Thunder Valley Nationals to put an exclamation point on an already impressive season with a double-win in Super Eliminator and ET. It was the ninth double of Huffman's career and his first since Texas last year. A double-win is rewarding for several reasons. Namely, it earns a racer two purses and double points. However, Huffman says "that's not what matters most, it's not the money, it's all about getting out there and having a good time. I was here to compete and win."

Huffman, who has rarely missed an AHDRA race over the past several seasons made a major announcement concerning his future with the series in the winner's circle. "I made up my mind in Norwalk that I need two more championships to catch up with my good friend Dan DeGood, the retired seven-time champ" Huffman said. "So if I make it to seven this year, I am going to quit too. I would like to start doing a little more road racing and dirt track racing."

In the ET final, Huffman defeated Mike Best with a .030 light and an 11.64 on an 11.52 to Best's .186 and 14.08 on a 14.00. In Super Eliminator Huffman was again razor sharp off of the line with an .016 bulb and ET of 11.021 to defeat the .026 and 11.023 of Lane Boger. "I am on my game right now," Huffman said. "I am just hoping to carry the apple cart for the rest of the year. The competition is getting tougher and tougher, and, at 46 years old, I am not getting any younger." Huffman thanked Harley-Davidson/Buell of Lakeland for their continued sponsorship.
