Saturday morning, February 17, 2007, started out to be
one of the coldest mornings of the 2007 Winter season. It didn't take
long for it to warm up to be a beautiful day for the 5,000 plus bikers
on hand to help celebrate the Grand Opening of the new Ridge Harley-Davidson/Buell
Shop in Lake Wales.
The
day started with an autograph session and thrill show presented by "the
Buell American Daredevil," Bubba Blackwell.
He thrilled the crowd with his exciting tricks aboard
his Harley-sponsored Buell® motorcycle. He also turned out to be quite
the comedian as he chatted to the crowd through his helmet mounted microphone.
At one time during a difficult stunt he said, "Wow, I didn't know that
I could do that!" Blackwell has appeared on both the Late Show with David
Letterman and the Tonight Show with Jay Leno.

The musical highlight of the day was the great show put
on by classic rock star Bobby Friss and his band. Friss is known nationally
as Harley-Davidson's favorite show band. He performs at Harley events
throughout the United States, including "Bike Fest" in Daytona. The crowd
especially enjoyed the special parts of his show when he would leave
the stage and mingle with the crowd.
Bikers came from as far away as Ft. Myers, Ocala, Tampa
and Vero Beach. The days festivities were combined with a great barbecue
lunch served up by Granger and Son's Barbecue complete with cokes and
beer. There were several food and drink locations available around the
dealership.
Another big hit at the Grand Opening was Jeff Bartucci's "BikerDollsGONEWILD." A
booth was available for bikers to pull their bikes in and have a photo
taken with an internationally known model.
Special prices were featured throughout the day in the
Sales, Parts, and MotorClothes® Merchandise Departments. Customers were fast to take
advantage of the sales.
At the conclusion of the event co-owners, Don Huffman
and Bill Monts de Oca, expressed their appreciation to the Polk County
Harley Owner's Group as well as other volunteers, employees and the general
public for their help in making this Grand Opening so successful.
